A: FEEDING TIPS

Always consult with your vet before starting a supplement program. Our clients have found the most effective way to serve EquiZen powders is with two or more scoops of dampened feed, grains, or brans a full two and a half hours before competition.

To keep powder from going to the bottom of the bucket: Mist a small amount of water over feed, then add powder. It will stick to dampened feed. Or, make a soupy bran mash and add powder last.

To hide taste: 

• Add a small amount of blackstrap molasses or apple cider drink mix powder over dampened feed.
• Or, mix with a banana or applesauce before adding to feed
• Or, mix in with mash: bran, beet pulp, hay pellets, or Integrity Feed (Low Starch with molasses) www.integrityhorsefeed.com

Many clients have had success using a grain such as Integrity Adult/Senior Low Starch (which contains a small amount of molasses, while still a low starch option).

A. WHEN TO FEED EQUIZEN

EQUIZEN POWDERS (PRO, DAILY, and FORTE) 

· Starts working 90 minutes after fully eaten

· Effects last at peak levels for 5+ hours (then slowly taper off for up to 24 hours)

EquiZen powder can be giving at morning feeding, or no less than 2 hours before training or showing. The effects are most noticeable 90 minutes after fully consumed and last at peak levels for 5+ hours. 

EQUIZEN PASTES (PRO and FORTE)

· Starts working in 60 - 90 minutes, depending on metabolism

· Effects last 4 - 6 hours 

· For horses that are too nervous to eat at competitions

Effects are evident after 60 - 120 minutes and last at peak levels for around 5 hours before slowly tapering off. Administer like a worming paste. Care should be taken to be sure your horse has swallowed the full contents. 

TO BOOST POSITIVE EFFECTS OF EQUIZEN:

Can be used daily. Increase the number of days prior to the event. Prior to shows, travel, events, or stressful situations, feed 1 scoop every day for 3 - 6 days. Feed 1 scoop two hours prior to competition, or administer one tube of paste 90 minutes before event.
